South Country Fair

 — (MDT, UTC-06) — (MDT, UTC-06)

South Country Fair at Fort Macleod, 249 Lyndon Road, Fort Macleod, Alberta

What began as a camping weekend for several local folk clubs in 1987 intended for organizers to get to know each other better morphed into an annual 3-day event. We’re still trying to get to know one another, but The Fair seems to be doing quite well. The mission of South Country Fair has always been to expand cultural horizons in Southern Alberta by giving our citizens the opportunity to experience a diversity of music, spoken word and performance art in the context of a three-day, camping-style, old-world outdoor folk music festival.

About Jodie B

Jodie B is a live loop performer, multi-instrumentalist and producer, performing as both a solo artist and as a duo with her sister. Her original craft is a blend of hip-hop and electro-soul, inspired by FKJ, Atmosphere, Rufus Du Sol, NomBe and DubFx. Jodie B performs with her guitar, violin, bass, harmonicas, synths, vocals, and electronic drums.

“I grew up singing and playing various maritime instruments in Newfoundland kitchen parties, so it’s integral to me that I create original material influenced by all avenues of my musical background,” says Jodie B.

The early days of her career were spent street performing with her father and sister in downtown Calgary.

About Manteasah

Manteasah‘s sound resonates between a moon-lit forest and a dark city skyline.

Their artistry is rooted in Kelowna BC, tastefully curating electronic downtempo mixed with hip-hop and a dusting of soul. When elements of Makemdef’s clever word play and intricate production meets the sister’s dynamic harmonies and heavy-hitting instrumentation, the perfect storm of dark atmospheric textures is transported by the mysterious trio.

They have collaborated with notable artists such as KRS1, Kytami, Pineo & Loeb, and KLab, and have performed at “DJ Mag’s Best Music Festival in North America”, Shambhala Music Festival in 2019.
